Gallery Talk with Tony Ortega at BMoCA

From 6 pm to 7 pm at Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art (BMoCA). All Intercambio members are invited to a Gallery Talk with Tony Ortega, a latino artist from Denver. His show "Mi Frontera Es Su Frontera" addresses ideas of diversity and community. After the talk, Tony will sign copies of the exhibition catalog featuring artwork on view at BMoCA.

La Fiesta: Mark your calendars and shine those dancing shoes

What: La Fiesta is Boulder County’s largest multicultural social event that combines ethnic food, dancing, drinks, and live music.

The Daily Camera is having its annual "Best of Boulder" competition and it would be great for Intercambio if we won the award for "Best Nonprofit Organization"!

Our Executive Director gets to go to Denmark!

And the rest of the staff is jealous.

That's right. In August, Intercambio's Executive Director, Lee Shainis, will head to Denmark on a two-week government-sponsored exchange program to learn about issues and solutions regarding immigration.

During the trip, Lee will be holding several workshops using the "What Every Immigrant Needs to Know" guide and is looking forward to learning from the Danish approach to immigration. In fact, he may even teach them a thing or two about dancing while he's at it.

Bridging the Digital Divide - Intercambio and Boulder Community Computers

We wanted to spread the word about an awesome nonprofit in the area: Boulder Community Computers! 

A little bit about them: they take old donated computers and offer low income people the opportunity to learn how to rebuild them. The computers stay out of landfills AND the low income peeps gain valuable computer literacy skills!

We have been partnering with them to provide curriculum for their free Computer Training for English Language Learners.
